Xcerpt Community Project

In a meeting yesterday, we decided that it is now time to attract a larger community of developers. This post briefly describes the ideas behind the Xcerpt Community Project.

Xcerpt has been a research/PhD project for the last 4 years (beginning in May 2001), and has been adopted by the EU Network of Excellence REWERSE as foundation for the working group I4 (Reasoning-Aware Querying). This means that it at least has some impact in the research community.

However, to make Xcerpt a success, research is not enough. It is also necessary to attract users and developers that are curious and willing to experiment with a new query language not yet suited for production use. The purpose of this Web site is to facilitate access to the Xcerpt development, to spread awareness outside the research community, and to build an Open Source community around the development of Xcerpt.

If you are interested, please feel free to contact us, make suggestions, try Xcerpt out.
